The purpose of the AIA Seattle Design Committee blog is to facilitate an open, honest, diverse, and respectful dialogue about the many design issues affecting our community. If you would like to submit a post, email an idea to info@aiaseattle.org; include the words “dialog post proposal” in the subject heading. We will contact you to let you know whether your proposal has been accepted, and to coordinate content and image requirements.
To keep dialog as meaningful and constructive as possible, as a blogger we expect you to follow these guidelines:
Substance
We seek a range of topics, from substantive, issue-based posts to lighter fare, as long as they are about design. We define design broadly, including allied professions of interior design, landscape architecture, urban design, graphic design, industrial design, artists, and others.
Tone
Agree or disagree with other opinions respectfully. If you are criticizing a work of design, assume the creator of the work is reading your post – and may be invited to write a response.
Quality
Write deliberately and accurately. Use spellcheck. Link to online references and original source materials directly. Disclose potential conflicts of interest.
